A Brief Biography

Though by no means a ‘world traveler’, this lady has seen some scenery.  Family and circumstance have carried me from the obscure area around Idabel, Oklahoma during World War II, into the bay area of California and then back to the Four States Area as a teenager.  Culture shock!  Much as I loved the moist, salty sea breezes blowing across the bay, I loved even more the pineywoods, the country atmosphere, and the friendliness of the people in and around Texarkana.

Many times, since those teenage years, circumstances have taken me away from those pineywoods and friendly people... only to return.  I joke that there is one end of a strong ‘rubber band’ attached to my heel, with the other end attached to the flag pole in front of the Texarkana Post Office on State Line!  Sooner or later, that ‘rubber band’ pulls me back home.

Through all my life I have had a consciousness of God being in control; allowing mistakes in order for me to learn from them. I have learned, and my life has been greatly enriched through finding out just how wonderful and faithful He is.  Every time I have strayed He has been there to detach me from some snare or to lead me back from where I had wandered.  There’s always been the Shepherd, Jesus, to lead me back into green pastures.

Journeys to Colorado offered things that, as John Denver so aptly wrote... filled up my senses, and I received more education there before and after age 50 at the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo.  More travels, more experiences, then back to Texarkana to find the life-partner God had waiting for me.

My husband Reed and I were married in 1992, and continued to travel like a pair of tumbleweeds, attempting to find cooler temperatures and greener pastures.  Yet, unlike tumbleweeds, we have sown seeds of faith and encouragement and salvation through Jesus Christ wherever we went.

God has made a way for us to publish several works including the booksWomen to Women compiled from a series of letters written especially for women; Get Up And Dance concerning my life changing experiences and 25 years of ministering one-on-one with people all over the U.S.; and my latest, "If I'm Not Carved on the Palms of God's Hands, I'll Eat Your Hat!"  We have also published my children's stories BeckyBooks “Stories For Children of All Ages."

The Chinaberry Tree Publishing, the name which I have given to my collection of works, comes from a time in my early childhood when I, as a 3 yr. old, in a swing under a Chinaberry tree in Oklahoma, spent hours with my new Friend, Jesus.  I grew up far from the Chinaberry tree, but the memory of those special times as I sat in the swing, talking to Jesus, have never faded. Such times gave inspiration to the works I write today.

God is not through with us and is, even now, making a way for us to work together as never before   He always has a plan.  When we seek our own way, we lose the privilege of the life He has planned for us, but when we fit into His plan willingly, He can do great things with us.
