Tips for Iron-On Transfers
|
|
|
When it comes to printing computer generated images onto cloth, you will
need to use special transfer paper instead of the everyday paper you
normally use in your printer.
Items you will need include:
The t-shirt or other item onto which you
want to transfer the image.
The computer generated document
containing the image you are desiring to print.
Special iron-on transfer paper, which can
be purchased at a computer or office supply store.
Here is how
1. Load the transfer paper transparent-side down in the printer.
2. On your computer, open the desired PDF document containing the text or image you
desire to transfer to the t-shirt, etc with
Adobe Acrobat Reader.
3. Then click "File" located in the upper left hand corner of the
Acrobat window. In the drop-down menu click "Print" to expose the
"Print" settings box (for HP printers, your printer may vary) and click the
"Properties" button.
4. Then under the "Layout" tab on the Properties page select the
"Orientation" (portrait [vertical] or landscape [horizontal]) to
match the direction of your image. Then click the "Paper/Quality" tab
and select "Normal" and "Color". Then click "OK", which
will return you to the "Print" window.
5. Once you have returned to the Print page find the box entitled
"Page Handling" then look for the drop-down menu adjacent to the terms
"Page Scaling". On that menu select "None".
Then click "OK" and print the transfer text or image.
6. Follow the instructions included with the iron-on transfer paper to
transfer the image onto your t-shirt, etc.
After Printing
Return to the default settings for
your printer or the settings that are normal for your usage, if necessary.
Replace the transfer paper in your
printer with your everyday paper.
