Since I can’t get to sleep tonight, and things are strongly on my mind, it seems that just maybe I’m supposed to write.  The Lord Jesus is teaching me some things that are in His Word but mostly misunderstood or simply overlooked because we aren’t sure what they mean.  It’s been about six years since Reed and I asked the Lord how to enter His Kingdom... believing that it must be some spiritual realm we should walk in that would cause all our needs to be met and our prayers answered.   He said, in Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things (that we need) shall be added” unto us.  We made up our minds to seek that kingdom!   We felt that there was a very strong, almost visible wall or curtain between us and the Kingdom of God, and we asked Him what that was.

His reply was that we could break through that wall if we truly wanted to, because it was only as thick as the sclera of our eye.  That sent me to the dictionary to find out just what the sclera is, and how thick it might be.  Well, I didn’t find out the thickness, but the definition is this...”sclera= the hard, white, fibrous outer coat of the eyeball, continuous with the cornea.” which convinced me that it can’t be too very thick!  Well, believe me, we wanted to break through that wall but it just seemed too tough or else we weren’t trying hard enough.!   I guess if we were better Bible scholars we’d have known sooner, but we’ve tended to listen to other teachers and preachers rather than search it out for ourselves. They didn’t make it clear, either.  It’s right past the end of our noses!  Or as Jesus said "...at hand"

I don’t know why it took so long, but today the light dawned!  I looked up the words ‘kingdom’ and ‘righteousness’ in the dictionary, and there it came clear to me.  The kingdom of God is the kingship of God.  Not our righteousness, but the righteousness that only He can give.  The dominion of God.  The sovereign rule of God.  We had looked for it to be a place in the Spirit.... a realm.  So, when Jesus said that the kingdom of God is in the midst of  you... He meant “love the Lord with all..All...ALL our heart, soul, mind and strength, and our neighbor as ourself”, and that’s the kingdom.  That is “God-rule”.   That kind of love, with His sovereign rule.  Love Him so much we’d buy a whole field just to get the Pearl of Great Price hidden within it. And we do!  It is worth that great price, and nothing else is.

Some people think we’ve gone off on some tangent, but we’re actually just hearing the Lord speak to us about His sovereign rule.  It sounds radical.  Scares some people because this isn’t taught just that way in some churches.  Most churches.  We’re simply buying the field that contains the most precious thing in the world.  This is seeking first His Kingship.

How can we call Him “King” if He only rules part-way?
How can we call Him “Lord” if we push His rule away?
It’s easy to call Him “Savior”, for He died to set us free,
But to enter into His Kingdom... to give Him dominion

and absolute rule, takes a heart of love to see.
