It seems the covenants that God extends to man
tend to erode over time; not by His doings, but by man's. It seems that
the ground on which God's gestures fall becomes much like that which Jesus
spoke of in Matthew 13:3-8. The offers of a close
relationship that God has extended since Adam seem to fade into the background of "life".
This "life" seems to think of itself as an arbitrator who is in a position
to bargain. He puts forth his own agenda, the core of which seems to
resemble a loosely-fit but powerful, generational entity devised by man in
partnership with satan. This includes a smattering of some type of religion
(for flavoring) to make it palatable and to give it an appearance of good.
Our jobs tell us how "life" wants us to live, our denominations tell us
how "life" wants us to live, our peers tell us how "life" wants us to
live, our families tell us how "life" wants us to live, and our own
thoughts tell us how "life" wants us to live. Thus "life" manifests and
defines its agenda through a very fallible, corruptible filter known as
human perspective.
On the other hand the core of the plan which God puts forth has only one Author who
has compiled His points of arbitration into an extensive, well-written,
tightly-bound series of documents. This compilation documents various
events that occurred during each of God's covenants, thus
giving testimony to how He has consistently maintained His position in the
negotiations, and of His continued attempt to make it easier for man to
comply.
An example taken from His compilation of documents
appears in chapter 28 of Deuteronomy. God delineated what a life with Him
and a life with "life" would be. Then in
Deuteronomy 30:19 & 20 He brings the covenants that have
been presented by the two parties to a vote. He states that He has set
before us two choices. We may choose the covenant of "life" or the
covenant of God. We have the option to choose "life"
which He equates to death and a curse, or life by
His definition, "that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed; to love Jehovah
thy God, to obey his voice, and to cleave unto him; for He is thy life,
and the length of thy days; that thou mayest dwell in the land..." of your
destiny.
I am reminded of the meeting between Jesus and a Samaritan woman with a
somewhat checkered past... and present. She came out to a well to
draw water as she had done before many times. Up until that time she lived
"life". It seems that "life" had placed her in a position to be defined by
her mistakes. And I would imagine that the stigmas of religious and public
opinion had defined the walls of her prison. However, this time she ran
headlong into one of God's Covenants. He was made of even more truth,
love, and forgiveness than any covenant before Him and He changed her life
forever. This Covenant set her free to live the life God created for her
instead of being trapped by what "life" was dictating to her.
Periodically, since creation God has had to adjust His relations/covenants
with man. Each time God's original covenant seems to break down due to
man's inability to uphold his end of the agreement. Thus now it appears
that we are rapidly approaching another time of adjustment; another time
when God again attempts to make it easier for man to maintain his place in
the contract.
It appears this upcoming adjustment will even include the temporary
removal (for 1000 years) of the co-author (satan) of the "life" covenant from the
arbitration table... only God and man will remain. However, at the end of
this time it seems the co-author will be returned to the arbitration table for a
season, and a portion of mankind will again join him to begin to erode the
covenant.
Thus it seems at the end of that season there will be yet another
covenant... another adjustment. From what we know from scripture
this seems to be the final covenant, and indications are that with this
covenant God has made all of the adjustments He is going to make. There
will no more arbitration for "life's" co-author and those who have, over
the ages, aligned themselves with him. They will be brought before a
different table of negotiation. This table will look like a throne and it
will have only one person seated there... God. And with this any form of arbitration
will ultimately cease. "Life" will be no more.
